RIP BBM! Blackberry Messenger is now Dead and Buried

This is pathetic but the truth is BBM messenger is dead, dusted and will be forgotten just like every other irrelevant apps. If you still have it installed on your smartphone, it is time to uninstall it.

The once popular instant messaging platform was launched on 1 August 2005, when the only other option we had for mobile messaging was SMS; and was initially developed for BlackBerry devices.
It rapidly grew in popularity and in 2011 RIM claimed there were 43 million active BlackBerry Messenger users worldwide.

Using BBM way back makes you feel on top of the world but now… BBM introduced group chats to the mobile device; something we take for granted today but was new and exciting at the time.

The company responsible for developing BBM Emtek said, despite its effort to keep users on the platform, users moved on to other platforms while new users proved difficult to sign on.

Consumers moved away from Blackberry Messenger to iMessage, WhatsApp, and to group chat on other social media platform.

The once popular messaging app is now dead and buried. To those of you who find it difficult ot move on, this is what BBM has to say for youOn 31st o of May 2019, BlackBerry Messenger, better known as BBM, was closed down for good.

“Though we are sad to say goodbye, the time has come to sunset the BBM consumer service, and for us to move on,”
